Umenikaa is a funky electro pop love song from the Tanzanian Artist Tofa Jaxx. In Swahili slang “Umenikaa” means “you are stuck in my mind”.

In this single Tofa sings about a real life experience after he met someone in the year 2020 who had that special effect on him. The idea for the song Umenikaa came after it became clear to him that this person he truly adored could never give him what he wanted or reciprocate the love he wished for.  

His resolution to that was to forget the person, but how do you forget someone you became so fond of without it hurting a little. That was the choice he needed to make, to put and love himself first. Because the latter would have caused more emotional damage.

 2021 is going to be an interesting year for the young songwriter. Over the last month he has been working tirelessly on new music. He wrote the soundtrack “Changed the Game” for the recent Tanzanian action movie “Nyara” which was in the movies by December 2020.Tofa will release the Changed the game in March.

 Therefor UMENIKAA will only be the beginning of Tofa´s releases in 2021. More songs are already lined up and he is working on his first international album which is planned to come in the second part of the year.

With his music Tofa Jaxx is daring a different path from what the norm is in Tanzania with Bongo Flava and other mainstream sounds.
